Description

Isidore-Alexandre-Augustin Pils was born in Paris as the son of a soldier François Pils. At the age of twelve, he studied with Guillaume Guillon-Lethière for four years. Pils was a French academic painter of religious and military subjects. Study of a Reclining Nude was painted by Pils in 1841. Pils died in Douarnenez and is buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery.
