Description
Edgar Degas was a French Impressionist artist famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings. Degas is especially identified with the subject of dance, with more than half of his works depict dancers. Degas was born in Paris, France in 1834. Although he is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism, he rejected the term, preferring to be called a realist. ‘The Rehearsal of the Ballet on Stage’ by Degas was painted in 1874.
