Description

Jean-Léon Gérôme was a French painter and sculptor in the style now known as academicism. Born 1824 in Vesoul, Haute-Saône, Gérôme was ‘arguably the world’s most famous living artist by 1880.’ He died 10 January 1904 in Paris. ‘Pygmalion & Galatea’ by Gérôme was painted in 1890. Classic version also available.
