Description
William-Adolphe Bouguereau was a French academic painter born in La Rochelle, France, on 30 November 1825. He used mythological themes, making modern interpretations of classical subjects. He completed 822 known paintings, but the whereabouts of many are still unknown, until his death in August 1905. ‘The Hard Lesson’ by Bouguereau was painted in 1884.
