Description
Theodorus Rallis was a Greek painter born in February 1852. He was a watercolourist and draughtsman, who spent most of his working life in France and Egypt. He was sent to Paris under the patronage of King Otto of Greece and studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme. Ralli settled for a while in Cairo, Egypt. It is here he found his inspiration for the romantic mysticism and suggestive sensuality of his many orientalistic paintings. Holy Friday by Ralli was painted in 1885. Ralli died in October 1909, Lausanne, Switzerland. Twist version also available.
